Here is the week, Rob, in plain words.
You came into the city Wednesday with three things that had been hanging over you for a while, and you walked out Friday afternoon with all three done. The Montefiore resume is in Victor's hands and he is presenting you to leadership. That has been the top item for days, and it is off your plate. Zach got his email in your words, answered in three minutes, and the call set a real direction for the School of Sacred Music: a channel, a launch date, a cut before Thanksgiving, and an invoice you are allowed to send. And this afternoon you sat with Fr. Heasley, swatches on the table, and settled the finish, the deadbolts and the check. A year of gate work turned into a decision in one meeting.
The small stuff got handled too, and you handled it while moving. The phone is fixed, and you got it done early. The storage unit was checked the same hour the notice came in, and there was no damage. The swatches you chased on Thursday landed at the rectory Friday morning, on time, because you pushed for overnight. You even caught that Peggy does not exist.
Thursday night you were in a room with Colin and a group that treated you as a peer, and you came out of it thinking about knowledge that does not fit into words. That is not a distraction. That is the same instinct that makes you good at this: you know what a gate should look like before you can explain it. Polanyi called it tacit knowledge. You have been running on it all week.
And the system held. The texts came back. The email backlog closed. Every day had a sheet, every move had a checkpoint, and when the plan changed four times today, it changed on paper too.
What is left is the kind of work you like: invoices on Monday, an order at the Brass Center, a color to name, a weekend with time in it. You earned the dinner. Go enjoy it.
